Blammer - Gun Blog

Well, I’ve finally upgraded the site from WordPress 1.2 to WordPress 2.0. It looks pretty much the same, but I figure that’ll be changing soon because buddy Grummz is coming aboard. I know, I know…he’s a revolver guy, but I don’t hold it against him. They’re pretty, even when they’re misfiring on the range. I’m probably just not holding them right. Yep, that must be it.

Additionally, Grummz has been teaching himself how to smith the 1911, so that’s something we can both agree on. We’re both pretty new to shooting, so expect a lot of discovery. If you’re a new shooter, you might enjoy our extremely sporadic ramblings. Looking forward to seeing a little more energy around here now. Welcome aboard, buddy!

Give us a holler!

I like WordPress better as a blogging system, plus the plugins I have installed make writing posts with images much easier. The two other advantages of WordPress: Easier to edit a post, and no need to recompile everytime you make a change. It’s much less stressful on server time too!

It must have been 20 years ago when I took my first surreptitious glance through a tattered issue of Shooting Times. Raised in a strictly anti-gun household in the middle of a Presbyterian seminary, I had no idea that things that go “bang” would become a serious hobby. I know my Dad was surprised, commenting some years later that his anti-gun policy seemed to have backfired. In any case, I’ve finally gotten around to picking up some guns and learning to shoot.

Being the son of a preacher man hasn’t blessed me with a lot of knowledge about guns, so I’m pretty much starting from scratch. I’m planning on using this blog to keep track of what I’ve learned, with as many pictures as my poor server can stand to hold.

This is my personal site, journaling my introduction to guns and the shooting sports, here in the Southern New Hampshire area. Being able to shoot has been something I’ve wanted to do for years, but not knowing very many people who actually do this I’ve had to figure things out bit by bit. So I’m collecting what I’m learning here for the benefit of myself and my friends. In the meantime, at least you can look at the pictures.

The name “blammer” is a mix between a gunshot (”Blam!”) and the sound that comes out of my mouth when my lips flap (”blather”, “blah blah blah”).
